B2B Integration EDI

What is EDI?

Electronic data interchange (EDI) allows the electronic transfer of business data and documents using various types of standardized message formatting—enabling companies in different cities, regions and even countries to send and receive data with little or no need for hands-on processing.

Why EDI?

Reduce costs

Delivering and processing a document in minutes, instead of hours or even days, EDI eliminates hardcopy mailing costs and reduces the overhead associated with document processing. And remember, no paper equals no paper costs.

Eliminate rework

Errors can sneak in anytime a hardcopy or program-based document is retyped or copied, virtually every time it is “touched” by a human being. EDI eliminates errors by being the sole source of information: the data is already in electronic format and can be easily entered into other business applications without being “touched” again.

Have high-speed access to data

Fast and accurate transfer of information enables the reduction of all sorts of business cycle times, from order processing to delivery—and it enables you to make faster and more accurate business decisions.

Improve efficiency

EDI provides automation of data transfer, reduction of document processing time, elimination of errors, improvement of document consistency and increased speed of data availability.

What standards are supported by Micron?

How is the data exchanged by Micron?

Micron sends and receives electronic documents via standard data exchange protocols. Micron prefers value added network (VAN) or AS2 exchange through the IBM Sterling Commerce Network.
